How can I last longer? Men at every stage of life think about their performance. But instead of focusing on complicated strategies or medication, there is a surprisingly simple way to improve your performance between the sheets: pelvic floor training. MyPelvi explains how training the deep muscles can help you last longer.

How long can a man last?

The moment of truth has arrived, and you are about to find out how long a man lasts on average. Actual intercourse lasts around 5 to 7 minutes for men – excluding foreplay [1]. But don't worry if it is over more quickly for you. If you do not last that long or feel that you lose control quickly, pelvic floor training could be the answer.

A study indicates that pelvic floor weakness during the phases of genital arousal and orgasm can negatively affect sexual function [3]. A well-trained pelvic floor helps you control ejaculation better and increase stamina.

By the way: women are naturally able to enjoy longer sessions because their bodies are designed for multiple orgasms in succession. On average, it takes around 13 to 20 minutes for them to reach climax [2]. Pelvic floor training can help them experience more desire and perceive sex more intensely.

With MyPelvi, you can strengthen your pelvic floor muscles in a targeted way. All without any exertion or sweat-inducing exercises. All you need to do is take a seat on the MyPelvi chair and lean back.

The chair and the innovative magnetic wave technology do the work for you. The magnetic waves reach even the deepest layers of muscle and strengthen your pelvic floor from the inside out. See for yourself and feel how, over time, you last longer and experience it more intensely:

Why do men climax too soon?

When a man climaxes too quickly, this can have various causes. Premature ejaculation is when a man almost always climaxes very early, sometimes even before inserting his penis. However, this is an extreme form that affects only 4% of men [1].

The reason for climaxing quickly is often a combination of physical and psychological factors. Stress, performance pressure or fear of not being “good enough” in bed often play a major role. Arousal can also increase more quickly than expected, especially in new or exciting situations.

Hormonal imbalances or hypersensitivity of the penis may also play a role. It is important to know that this is not an unusual problem and, in most cases, can be treated effectively – often with targeted pelvic floor training and relaxation techniques. If pelvic floor training or the following tips are not sufficient, we recommend seeking medical advice.

7 tips to last longer

Still not satisfied with your endurance? Here are some tips that can change that.

1. Use condoms

Let's start with the simplest trick for anyone who finishes too quickly: condoms can reduce sensitivity, helping you last longer. Make sure to choose condoms in your size so wearing them doesn't feel uncomfortable.

2. Reducing stress with breathing techniques

The more calmly you breathe, the longer you can maintain control. The reason: deep, slow breathing helps release tension and keeps you more relaxed. Try this 4 – 4 – 10 breathing exercise. Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds and breathe out for 10 seconds.

3. "Start-Stop" technique

With a little discipline, you can train your body to delay ejaculation. How? Pause shortly before climax, take a deep breath and then continue. It is not always easy, but it is an effective way to increase your control.

4. Apply pressure point

Did you know that there is a point on your body that can delay your orgasm? Try it! Gently apply pressure to the area between your testicles and anus (perineum) when you feel you are about to climax.

5. Pelvic floor training

Most men do not need surgery or medication to last longer. Instead, pelvic floor training, such as MyPelvi's 22-minute training, can help you last longer and improve control.

6. Redirect your thoughts

Your thoughts have great power! Use this power and think of something that will distract you just before the climax, such as your next soccer game or a documentary film you watched. This can help prolong your excitement and enjoyment.

7. Regular practice

The more often you have sex or masturbate, the better your stamina generally becomes. As with any training: practice makes perfect!

How can you delay ejaculation?

If you climax early, this is often due to a lack of control over the pelvic floor muscles. Your pelvic floor muscles are involved in the erection and ejaculation mechanism. Both muscle weakness (hypotonia) and muscle tension (hypertonia) can impair the efficiency of the pelvic floor and thus your ability to achieve an erection and ejaculate [3].

But do not worry, because targeted training can teach you to influence the timing of climax. Regular pelvic floor training, for example with MyPelvi, strengthens the muscles and improves the ability to delay ejaculation – without medication or external aids:

How often should a man ejaculate each week?

There is no fixed rule for how often a man should ejaculate each week – this depends greatly on individual needs and preferences. Some experts believe that 3–5 ejaculations per week may be beneficial to health, as regular ejaculation is associated with better prostate health. Regular ejaculation can also reduce stress and contribute to emotional balance. Ultimately, the best number of ejaculations per week is the one that feels good and natural to you.

How long do you have to wait after ejaculation?

There is no specific length of time that you need to wait after ejaculation. The so-called “refractory period” – the break your body needs after climax – varies considerably from person to person. The length of time usually increases with age. But the pelvic floor plays a role here too. A strong pelvic floor can improve blood flow in the intimate area and thereby shorten recovery time, allowing you to be ready for sex again sooner.

Is it harmful to suppress ejaculation?

Learning to control your ejaculation is not harmful – in fact, it can be beneficial! With a trained pelvic floor, you learn when to engage the muscles to delay or intensify the climax. Over time, this can improve your performance and overall sexual health.

Can premature ejaculation be treated surgically?

There are surgical procedures that may be considered in extreme cases of premature ejaculation. However, this measure is very rare and should only be performed after you have obtained several medical opinions.

Training the pelvic floor muscles is simple, safe and non-invasive, and research therefore suggests that this training should always be regarded as the preferred approach for treating premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction [4].

The answer to many of the common questions about lasting longer in bed lies quite literally at the centre of your body: the pelvic floor. Whether you want to last longer, increase your desire or control ejaculation – a strong foundation in the pelvic floor muscles is key. So why not start training right away? Your pelvic floor (and your sex life) will thank you!
